Here we are closing out another TDY in Texas. I cannot wait to get back to my Montana life. Back to my bed, my house, my kitchen, my food, my family and just my overall, my life.
Tomorrow I board a plane and will be flying home. Almost all my stuff is packed, weighed, and ready to go. Weighed, because I have noticed from a previous experience and talking to others that the McAllen Airport scale doesn’t quite tare true.
This has been a long 30 days. This is the part of my work I hate. You don’t do anything like what you signed on to do. In fact you are doing the opposite of what the job description says. The escape from here, while may be short, will be great.
Sitting in a hotel room for your off duty time, and spending some of that time dreading going to work takes its toll on a person. But once you can see the end is close it gets easier to stick it out.
So I will pack the last few of my belonging after this and head to bed.
So in closing I have this to quote from the late John Denver, “All my bags are packed. I’m ready to go.”
